ShipServ Transforms the Matching of Buyers and Sellers of Maritime Supplies

Launch of new web-based capabilities enables Buyers to better source Suppliers as well as gives sellers increased opportunities to promote their products and services.

ShipServ (www.shipserv.com), the maritime e-marketplace, today announced two major enhancements to its services to transform the matching of buyers and sellers of ship supplies, services and parts.

Firstly, Suppliers will now be able to upload their catalogues onto ShipServ Pages (www.shipserv.com/pages), ShipServ’s online search and sourcing tool, allowing them to enhance their listing in the industry’s leading Supplier directory and provide more detailed, searchable information on products and services to prospective customers.

Secondly, Pages will now include advanced ShipServ TradeNet matching functionality. TradeNet represents an unparalleled information source to extend Pages searches. 100 buying organisations use TradeNet to buy, by year end 2007, $750m worth of ship supplies per annum from 5,000 suppliers. With TradeNet matching, Buyers will be shown those Suppliers that have a history in TradeNet of providing the product they are searching for, thereby giving them added reassurance in their Supplier selection process.

“At Clipper we are always looking for innovative ways to do business”, commented Anne Dalbjerg, Purchaser at Clipper Group, Copenhagen. “Pages has turned out to be a resourceful new tool in our supplier sourcing operations and at the same time enhanced our use of ShipServ.”

“Pages is rapidly becoming the ‘who’s who’ of the Supplier world and TradeNet the ‘who’s done what’”, commented Paul Ostergaard, CEO, ShipServ. “Combining the two, and adding uploadable Supplier catalogues, gives Buyers the most comprehensive, searchable information source they could ever need to support their buying decisions and Suppliers an unrivalled opportunity to broaden their sales reach.”
